In a significant stride toward advancing cancer treatment in Northwest Ohio, the Taylor Automotive Family has donated $1 million to establish the Taylor Cancer Research Center. This initiative, in collaboration with the Toledo Clinic Cancer Centers (TCCC), aims to bring cutting-edge precision oncology therapies to the region, offering patients access to innovative treatments previously unavailable locally.
“The Taylor Automotive family has a deep legacy of philanthropy in Toledo. Julie and I always believed that we were greatly blessed, and we have always felt the need to share these blessings with our community,” said Steve Taylor Sr.
The newly formed Taylor Cancer Research Center will focus on precision therapy, a form of treatment that targets specific genetic mutations responsible for cancer growth. Dr. John Nemunaitis, a nationally recognized expert in precision oncology with over 500 peer-reviewed publications and extensive experience in FDA interactions and clinical trial development, will lead the center's efforts.
Dr. Rex Mowat, managing partner for TCCC, emphasized the center's mission: “Our mission is to expand our current clinical trial research program and to now provide more cutting-edge treatment close to home so that Toledo region patients can receive nationally acclaimed therapy without having to leave the area.”
The Taylor Cancer Research Center represents a significant advancement in local healthcare, ensuring that patients in Toledo and the surrounding areas have access to the latest in cancer treatment without the need to travel to larger cities.
