Recovery is not just about leaving something behind, it is about moving forward with purpose. This week on Taylor Community Connection we met Todd Crandell, licensed counselor supervisor and founder of Racing for Recovery, whose remarkable story of redemption and resilience continues to inspire people across the world.
After a 13 year struggle with drugs and alcohol, Todd made a life changing decision to pursue sobriety and dedicate himself to helping others do the same. What began as a personal journey became the foundation for Racing for Recovery, a nonprofit organization he founded in 2001 that blends physical fitness, mental health support, and community connection into a holistic approach to recovery.
A former professional triathlete, Todd has competed in more than one hundred Ironman events around the globe, proving that discipline, balance, and self belief can transform even the hardest chapters of life. In our conversation he shares how sport became a metaphor for perseverance and how his organization empowers people to heal through movement, mindfulness, and mutual support.
Racing for Recovery’s mission is simple yet profound to help individuals establish and maintain long term sobriety by replacing destructive habits with healthy, purpose driven living. Through counseling, fitness programs, and outreach efforts, Todd and his team show that recovery is not only possible, it can be extraordinary.
👉 Watch now to hear how Todd Crandell turned personal struggle into global impact and continues to race for hope, health, and healing.
