Grief can be one of life’s heaviest journeys, yet it can also lead to profound compassion and purpose. This week on Women in the Driver Seat we sit down with Kelly Gerken, Executive Director of Sufficient Grace Ministries, a nonprofit dedicated to walking alongside families experiencing miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss.

Founded in 2004, Sufficient Grace Ministries offers free, faith-based support to grieving families around the world. Through perinatal hospice care, remembrance photography, memory-making materials, and the comforting presence of doulas and volunteers, the organization provides tangible care and emotional healing at no cost. Every service is guided by the belief that even the smallest lives deserve to be honored and remembered with dignity.

In our conversation, Kelly shares how personal loss became the foundation of her mission and how she built a ministry grounded in empathy, grace, and strength. She explains what it means to care for grief holistically, combining emotional, spiritual, and practical support to ensure families never walk this road alone.

Kelly also offers insight into the organization’s vision for the future, including expanding resources and outreach to reach more families in need. Her story reminds us that healing often begins when one person chooses to turn pain into purpose and offer comfort to others.
