Taylor Hyundai of Perrysburg Hosts Wood County Clothesline Project View and Sip
Taylor Hyundai of Perrysburg was honored to open its doors on Thursday, September 24, for the Wood County Clothesline Project: View and Sip, presented in partnership with The Cocoon.
The evening provided a space for reflection, conversation, and community awareness as guests viewed T-shirts created by survivors of domestic and sexual violence, as well as by loved ones honoring individuals who lost their lives as a result of interpersonal violence in Wood County. Each shirt tells a deeply personal story through words, artwork, and individual expression.
Centering survivor voices
The Clothesline Project gives survivors a way to share their experiences in their own words while helping the broader community better understand the impact of domestic and sexual violence.
The Cocoon has displayed the Wood County Clothesline Project throughout the community for years as part of its outreach and awareness efforts. In 2024, a display at Bowling Green State University connected with more than 700 people, demonstrating the project’s ability to create meaningful conversations around experiences that can otherwise remain unseen.
During the View and Sip at Taylor Hyundai of Perrysburg, guests were invited to move through the exhibit at their own pace. Members of The Cocoon team were also available to answer questions, discuss the display, and share information about resources available to survivors. Complimentary food and drinks were provided for attendees.
Supporting The Cocoon’s mission
The Cocoon is Wood County’s comprehensive domestic and sexual violence agency, providing shelter, advocacy, education, and support for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, sexual harassment, sex trafficking, stalking, and childhood sexual abuse. Its services are available at no cost, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The organization reports serving more than 900 survivors and their children each year, while responding to thousands of requests for services throughout the community.
The View and Sip also helped lead into Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which begins October 1, creating an opportunity to center survivor voices and encourage continued education, awareness, and community support.
Proud to host our community
At Taylor Automotive Family, being locally owned, locally committed means creating space for important conversations and supporting organizations working every day to make our communities safer and stronger.
We are grateful to The Cocoon, everyone who attended, and the survivors and families whose stories are represented through the Wood County Clothesline Project.
By listening, learning, and continuing the conversation, we can all play a role in building a community where survivors are heard, supported, and reminded that they are not alone.
Need support?
