Taylor Hyundai of Perrysburg Hosts Building Hope Through Housing
Taylor Hyundai of Perrysburg was proud to welcome Lucas Housing Services Corporation (LHSC) and community supporters on Thursday, September 17, for Building Hope Through Housing, a fundraising evening centered on affordable housing, stability, and opportunity for young adults throughout Northwest Ohio. Taylor Automotive Family proudly sponsored the event and provided the dealership as a space for the community to gather around this important mission.
Guests came together for an evening of food, beverages, music, conversation, and raffles while learning more about the work Lucas Housing Services Corporation is doing to expand safe and affordable housing opportunities across our region.
Building stability through housing
Lucas Housing Services Corporation is a nonprofit affiliate of Lucas Metropolitan Housing and plays a role in community development and expanding housing opportunities throughout Lucas County. Its work includes creating pathways to affordable housing, homeownership, neighborhood revitalization, and supportive housing.
A major focus highlighted through Building Hope Through Housing is Park Apartments, an affordable supportive housing community created for young adults ages 18 to 24 who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. In addition to stable housing, the initiative connects residents with services intended to help them move toward greater independence.
Those supports can include trauma-informed case management, employment assistance and job training, life-skills development, behavioral and mental health resources, education, childcare, food assistance, and transportation.
More than a place to live
Stable housing can create a foundation for so many other parts of life, from employment and education to health, financial independence, and long-term opportunity.
That connection is something we have also explored through Taylor Community Connection, where Libby Schoen of Lucas Metropolitan Housing and Lucas Housing Services Corporation shared how housing stability and strong community partnerships can help transform individual lives and entire neighborhoods.
Building Hope Through Housing gave community members and local partners another opportunity to come together around that work and invest in solutions that create lasting impact.
