Some promises change lives far beyond the moment they are made. In this episode of Taylor Community Connection we meet Lisa Canales-Smith, founder of ANGELS Outreach Toledo, an organization that has been touching lives for three decades through love, service, and faith.

ANGELS, which stands for Area Neighbors Getting Envolved Lovingly and Spiritually, began with a promise Lisa made after experiencing a miracle at her daughter’s birth. What started as a personal vow to give back has grown into a 100 percent volunteer-based ministry with no paid staff, where every dollar goes directly to helping neighbors in need.

In our conversation Lisa shares the story behind the organization’s name and how it all began in 1995 with simple food basket deliveries to families during the holidays. Over the years ANGELS Outreach has expanded to meet needs year round, showing up for the community in moments of challenge and celebration alike. Lisa explains what it means to run a mission built on faith and trust, relying solely on the dedication of volunteer “angels” to carry out the promise she made more than 30 years ago.

Her story is one of resilience, compassion, and the power of keeping faith-driven commitments alive. Through ANGELS Outreach Toledo, Lisa reminds us that when love and service guide our work, lives can be changed for generations.

👉 Watch now to hear how Lisa Canales-Smith turned one promise into a lasting movement of kindness and hope.
