Leadership often begins with community roots, and for Kelley McClurkin those roots run deep in Findlay. In this episode of Women in the Driver’s Seat, we meet the newly appointed CEO of United Way of Hancock County, whose path from local entrepreneur to nonprofit leader shows the power of experience, resilience, and service.
For nearly two decades, Kelley owned and operated Bread Kneads Bakery & Deli, a beloved Findlay staple. Later, she joined United Way as Resource Development Director, where she worked closely with donors, volunteers, and partners to drive meaningful change. Now, as CEO, she steps into her latest role with a clear vision and a deep sense of responsibility to the community she has always called home.
In our conversation, Kelley shares how she is leading United Way to address urgent and evolving needs in Hancock County. From fighting hunger and promoting financial stability to improving safety, housing, and health outcomes, she sees every initiative as an opportunity to create lasting impact. She reflects on the success of raising 1.7 million dollars in the 2024 campaign and the collective power of volunteers through efforts like Days of Caring, which put hundreds of helping hands to work across the region.
Kelley’s story is about more than numbers. It is about uniting people under a common purpose and showing that when communities come together, meaningful change follows. Guided by compassion and strengthened by her entrepreneurial spirit, she is charting the next chapter of United Way’s mission in Hancock County.
